Nissan Drive Shaft — Micra K10/K11, Sunny, Bluebird, Primera & Patrol

Looking for a drive shaft for your classic Nissan? At Tomaxclassics you'll find front drive shafts for the Micra K10 and K11, Sunny, Bluebird, Primera and Patrol. We supply OEM-quality brands including SKF, GKN and GSP — with the correct fitment for your specific generation and variant.

When does a drive shaft need replacing?

The drive shaft transfers power from the gearbox to the front wheel. It flexes through two CV joints — one at each end. Signs of a failing drive shaft:

• Clicking or clunking when turning at low speed — worn outer CV joint

• Vibration at motorway speed — worn inner CV joint or imbalanced shaft

• Grease splatter inside the wheel arch — torn CV boot, joint running dry

• Juddering under hard acceleration — shaft or joint at the end of its life

Always replace as a pair (left and right) where possible — uneven shaft condition causes uneven torque transfer and pulls the car to one side.

💡 Micra K12 drive shaft = Renault Clio III (B-platform cross-reference)

The Micra K12 (2003–2010) shares the Renault-Nissan B-platform with the Renault Clio III and IV. Drive shafts for the K12 often cross-reference with Clio III equivalents — this means a wider choice of suppliers and often better availability. The K10 and K11 use separate Nissan-specific shafts with no Renault cross-reference.

Drive shaft by model

Micra K10 (MA10 / MA12, 1982–1992)

Front-wheel drive with a compact shaft layout. The left-hand shaft is shorter than the right on most variants. Parts for the K10 are becoming increasingly scarce — Tomaxclassics stocks GSP and Lobro equivalents where available. Check with us before ordering if you have a specific engine variant.

Micra K11 (CG10DE / CG13DE, 1992–2002)

The most common classic Micra. Left shaft shorter, right shaft longer with an intermediate shaft on some variants. SKF (VKJC series) and GSP cover the majority of K11 variants. Confirm your engine code and transmission type when ordering.

Sunny B11 / B12 / B13 (1982–1995)

Front-wheel drive throughout the range. The B13 (Sentra in the US market) shares some drivetrain geometry with the Almera N15 — useful cross-reference for parts sourcing. GSP and Lobro supply both generations.

Bluebird U11 / U12 / U13 (1983–1996)

FWD variants use conventional front shafts. The U12 SLX AWD variant adds rear drive shafts — distinct part numbers from the front. SKF and GKN OEM-equivalent shafts available. Specify FWD or AWD when ordering.

Primera P10 / P11 (1990–2002)

A well-supported classic with good parts availability. GKN and SKF cover both generations. The P11 shares some shaft geometry with the Almera N15, widening the supplier base further.

Patrol K160 / Y60 (1980–1997)

Solid rear axle — the Patrol uses front drive shafts only on part-time 4WD variants with a transfer case. 2WD variants have no front drive shafts. Propshaft is a separate item. Specialist 4WD suppliers cover the Patrol front shaft.

Tips for ordering

• Always confirm your chassis number or engine code — shaft length and spline count vary between sub-variants

• Check the CV boots before ordering a complete shaft — a boot kit can save the cost of a full replacement

• Replace inner and outer boots together when either is torn

• After fitting, check for vibration at 80 km/h — a residual imbalance may need correcting
